Disc Dog Freestyle
While lilli loves agility, she adores chasing the disc. She is a disc dog from tail to tongue. Fetching frisbees is all work and all play for her. Her disc dog ability is unlimited. But enough about my dog, you want to know more about playing fetch with Fido. The rest of this page is about the basics of Disc Dog freestyle.
What is Disc Dog Freestyle?
A dog, a handler and a pile of discs. You toss, dog catches. Simple. Put together elements like short throws, longs throws, butterflies, multiples, juggling, flips, vaults, dancing and tricks to create an entertaining show for the fans and a fun and challenging time for you and your disc dog.
Want a more detailed description of the sport and skills? Check out our Disc Dog Guide .
Toss and Fetch
Handler tosses the disc approx 40 yards. Dog runs, catches and returns the disc. Repeat 4 times in 60 seconds and you are in a toss and fetch competition. Bonus points for catches with all 4 paws in the air.
How do I get started?
Start with basic obedience and play. Roll the disc, creating a game of chase, Encourage your dog to get the disc, tug and play with it. Once your dog is chasing you can begin putting the disc in the air.
Where can I learn more?
