Dog Mess

The field behind our house that we normally use to train Lilli has signs on it that say no pets on the field.  The other day we were called on it by a condo commando and now we need to make new arrangements.  It is an inconvenience of course, and it is amazing the inconveniences we will deal with when we are committed to something.

I’m sure the rule exists to prevent dog mess on the field.  Likely a result of irresponsible owners not cleaning up after their dog.  That does not make them bad people, perhaps unaware of the consequences being lazy has not only for themselves but for others.  It is a lot like littering.  It is easier not to dispose of a mess properly.  Leave it sitting somewhere or toss it to the side takes less enegery than bagging it and walking it to the nearest trash container. The consequences of laziness, in some cases, can be life threatening.  Animals die every year from ingesting or being injured by trash.  And dog lovers space and freedoms to play with their pets in public areas is limited due to the amount of pet debris that is left behind.  Taking a moment to put trash or dog debris where it belongs is worth it.  A friendly reminder.
